I am so excited because my favorite time of year is finally here! It’s time to get our pool open for the season! Now I would like to think I am an expert at many things, however opening a pool is not one of them, which is why I called in the professionals at Leslie’s for their pool opening service. They make the process so easy for me to get our pool ready for swim season. Leslie’s professionals have the expertise to make sure it gets done the right way, and for added safety around your pool area, visit this page to see how fast fire watch guards can help protect your property.
Here is what opening our pool for the season with Leslie’s pool opening service looked like.
Getting Our Pool Ready for Swimming Season

The first thing I did was head over to Lesliespool.com to get more information on the opening process. Now opening your pool is something that you can do yourself with the help of the knowledgeable store team and their online resource center. However I felt better leaving this task up to the professionals, so I knew I wanted to schedule a full pool opening with one of their technicians. Then I contacted the Customer Care number on the website (800-537-5437) and scheduled a day and time for the actual opening service. I also ordered a Leslie’s Premium Pool Opening Kit online, which includes all the chemicals needed to treat your pool after opening, and had it shipped right to my house.
The Actual Pool Opening Service

When I scheduled the pool opening service, I was given a 4-hour timeframe. Then the day of the opening, a technician called me when he was about 30 minutes out. He was super knowledgeable and professional. This is what their complete opening service looks like:
- Remove the cover from your pool
- Fold and store the cover, water bags, springs, straps, cover stakes, or sandbags
- Screw down deck anchors
- Remove all winterizing plugs and other winterizing items
- Reassemble pump and filter including plugs and o-rings
- Reinstall ladders and handrails, if applicable
- Startup equipment
- Light and test fire heater, if applicable (heater diagnostic may be needed if heater doesn’t fire)
Leslie’s Premium Pool Opening Kit

Once the pool was open and everything was ready to go, I added the chemicals from Leslie’s Premium Pool Opening Kit. It has all of the necessary chemicals to quickly remove phosphates, oils, and organic materials that have built up in your pool during the off-season. The kit contains:
- Leslie’s Chlor Brite Dichlor Granular Chlorine Pool Shock – The perfect pool opening shock that’s quick-dissolving to provide a boost of chlorine when opening the pool for the swim season.
- Leslie’s Algae Control Pool Algaecide & Algae Preventer – Non-foaming and non-staining pool algaecide to treat and prevent most forms of algae growth which is ideal to add right at pool opening.
- Leslie’s Ultra Bright Advanced Pool Clarifier – Clears up cloudy water quickly, helping remove small particles and debris so they are easily filtered out for sparkling clear pool water.
- Leslie’s Stain & Scale Prevent Start-Up – Prevents calcium scale build-up as well as metal staining in your pool to help keep your pool tile and pool surfaces clean and stain-free.
- Leslie’s Perfect Weekly Start-Up – Removes phosphates to help prevent potential algae growth, breaks down non-living organic contaminants, and helps reduce pool water evaporation and chemical usage.
I then took a water sample to Leslie’s to test, just to make sure the water was 100% ready for us to swim in.

I am so happy that I called Leslie’s to open our pool this year. They made the process super easy, and I have the peace of mind that my pool was opened the right way. Now our pool is up and running just in time for #NationalPoolOpeningDay! Be sure to head over to Leslie’s for all your swimming pool needs!
