Mom jeans are one of my favorite types of jeans. However I feel like they are a style that some people shy away from because they are afraid of wearing mom jeans. They have a higher waist and the leg is a tad more baggier/straight as opposed to a skinny jean. Because of this they create a very flattering silhouette. They cinch in your waist and give you a more hourglass figure. I personally love them, especially in a lighter wash that is a bit destroyed.
They tend to be my spring jean of choice. They are comfortable and versatile to wear too as you can wear them to happy hour, taking the kids to the park, on errands, or even to a Sunday Brunch. I have always been a high waisted, skinny jean kind of girl so these are a great spin off to try since the looks mimic each other a bit. Below I am going to show you how to style mom jeans, especially for the upcoming spring season.
How To Style Mom Jeans
Styling Mom Jeans for the Spring

Alone mom jeans may give off a tom-boyish, 90’s vibe. But I wanted to show you how you can style them for spring and how they can be feminine and flirty. I simply paired them with a floral top and a white mule to tone down any edge the jeans may have. This is a go to look in early spring for me as it is usually pretty chilly still here in Connecticut. I usually can’t start wearing jeans until around mid-May. This outfit could easily be worn any day of the week and is perfect for a casual office setting too. I just got this top and I am obsessed. Nothing screams spring is coming as much as a cute floral print piece. Also these shoes are a spring staple for me until I am ready to break out the sandals.
Mom Jean Outfit Ideas
The ways to style mom jeans are endless really but I wanted to show you a few more options of how I like to style them. Besides the below I also like the idea of pairing them with a button down shirt for a more airy, yet pulled together look. Also I often wear them with a tank and blazer for a business casual look.
Graphic Tee

Pairing mom jeans with a graphic tee is the perfect everyday casual look. Wear with sneakers or mules. I am honestly not huge on graphic tees but I do like more basic, designer ones like I am wearing here. A little petite girl trick is to save money buying a designer tee by purchasing a kids size. I am 5’2″ and I am wearing a 14Y here and it fits perfectly!
Body Suit or Crop Top

My absolute favorite way to style mom jeans is with a bodysuit or crop top. It is definitely my everyday go to look. The higher waist makes it perfect for these types of tops. Plus being a mom and having 3 sections, it is super figure flattering on me. I love the tucked in look anyway so this is perfect for me.
Moto Jacket and Heels

You can also dress them up by wearing a silk camisole, your favorite heels, and a leather moto jacket or blazer. This is great for a date night with your man or a girls night out. It isn’t super dressy but enough so you feel put together.
Have you tried mom jeans? I remember seeing them come out last year and thinking what? But honestly they are more of a high-waist, straight leg jean and certainly nothing to be afraid of. They are much more flattering on than I thought they would be and they are a perfect staple for spring.

Thanks! Maybe you need a less baggy fit? I am only 5’2” too
