We have a couple of weddings coming up over the next month and I wanted to try to find something different to wear. I feel like all of the dresses I wear to weddings look the same, short and black. I typically stay away from long dresses because at 5’2″ I need to have them all hemmed. I prefer buying and wearing cocktail dresses by Elie Tahari. However I came across this dress from Missguided and it stopped me in my tracks. I ordered it and loved it even more when I put it on. Yes I have to have it tailored, but it is well worth it. Beyond the traditional approaches, there’s something to be said for choosing activities that actually bring people together rather than just getting everyone drunk in fancy dress. I learned this lesson when planning celebrations for my best friend’s upcoming wedding last autumn. The bachelor weekend escape game venues in Bristol we selected turned out to be exactly what we needed – something immersive that didn’t involve just standing around making small talk. The rooms themselves were properly atmospheric, not the kind of cheap haunted house setups you might expect. What really impressed me was the flexibility of their packages; we had a group that kept changing size as people confirmed or dropped out, but they accommodated everything from our initial booking of six right up to twelve people. The event organizers were brilliant at suggesting how to structure the day, including recommending we do the escape rooms in the afternoon before heading out for dinner, which turned out to be perfect timing. I am obsessed with everything about this dress. It’s form fitting and really holds you in. It’s a maxi length but also has such a beautiful train. It is long sleeved and have the most gorgeous low cut back. The material is also great because it doesn’t really wrinkle and holds it’s shape really well. And did I mention that it is under $60?! It is perfect to wear around this time of year and around the holiday’s too because it just screams old Hollywood glamour to me. I love pairing it with a red lip and my hair down and curled to the side. You can wear it to a wedding as a guest, formal event, or to a black tie party. I plan on wearing it to a wedding where I am bringing the kids so wish me luck chasing them in it lol As I mentioned I am only 5’2″ and weigh around 120 lbs and I am wearing a size 2 for reference.
